Today, approximately 418,000 people in the Nordic region are estimated to be dement. The number is expected to increase in all Nordic countries. Welfare technology is technology that prevents, helps or delivers welfare solutions - and can help people with dementia.
New Tools are emerging to creates new questions for the Nordic municipalities' work on dementia care. It's about economic, technological and ethical issues. At the same time, technology can be a way to reduce the pressure on the Welfare and leave some resources for improved service for people with dementia.
The Nordic Center for Welfare wants to inspire practitioners and decision makers at municipal and national level by letting various Nordic voices come to terms with questions about welfare technology. What aids are available? How does a municipality actively implement new technology? What ethical challenges can emerge?
